Not the ones in the kitchen — the ones in the head. Best practices. Playbooks. This is how it’s done. The pre-thought idea you inherit fully formed and drop into your situation without re-deriving it.

Mostly this is good. A recipe is compressed experience: someone already spent the attention to work it out, and you get the result for free. Attention is the scarcest thing a founder has. Borrowing it is how anyone moves fast.

But every recipe is a loan, and loans carry interest.

The cost isn’t in using the recipe. It’s in the moment you decide not to question it. Challenging a recipe means re-opening a question you’d already closed — pulling the solution back apart, holding it against the specific situation in front of you, deciding again. That’s expensive. It spends the exact resource you were trying to conserve.

So you don’t. You take it de-a gata — ready-made, off the shelf, whole.

And notice what governs that choice. It isn’t analysis. It’s emotion. The fatigue of having decided too many things today. The comfort of authority — someone smarter than me already figured this out. The relief of not being on the hook for the outcome. The quiet reluctance to find out what you’d see if you actually looked. We tell ourselves we adopted the recipe because it was right. Usually we adopted it because questioning it felt like more than we had left.

Here’s the trouble with a pre-digested solution: it was digested for a different meal.

Every recipe is an answer to a situation that already happened. It worked there — that market, that team, that moment, those constraints. Yours is not that situation. It’s never exactly that situation. The recipe arrives certain; your present is not.

Which means a borrowed solution can’t simply be applied. It has to be interfered with — held up against what’s actually true right now, pressure-tested against it. Sometimes the recipe survives intact. Sometimes the same solution just needs a turn or two, improved at the edges to fit. And sometimes the present has moved so far that the recipe has to be broken and rebuilt from nothing.

You can’t know which until you look. And looking is the work you were trying to skip.

The founder’s real job was never picking the right recipes. It’s the ongoing work of confronting them with now. Not what worked? — that question points backward. What does this specific present actually demand? — that one points at the thing in front of you.

This is why we keep returning to the same measure at Unyte: a project’s success tracks the human energy that actually flows into it. Recipes let you spend less of that energy. But spent-less and spent-well are not the same thing. The attention you save by swallowing a solution whole is often the precise attention the project needed you to spend — on this problem, in this present, for the first time.

So the honest question isn’t whether you use recipes. Everyone does. You should.

It’s how much of the recipe you’re still running without having observe it lately.

Currently, AI models can offer relatively satisfactory answers when correctly interrogated on the current corpus of knowledge.

The difference is made on the edge. The boundaries of knowledge. There, human intuition has much more effective ways to explore the unknown.

To navigate the known corpus of knowledge, one must have the core ability to navigate this corpus accelerated by an AI Sherpa. If one doesn’t possess this ability, then both the person and the AI Sherpa would move in circles rather than advancing together toward the edge of knowledge.

The “proof” that such intrinsic ability is rising at its core is could be in the future, a very pedagogical process.

I imagine it very similar to entering into the rituals/mysteries known in history as the Mysteries of Eleusis — the most famous and influential religious rites of ancient Greecea, a place for personal, transformative experience for the initiate (the mystai).

Today, would be like a mix between a University, a Church and a SPA :)

I imagine it as a school at this intersection, where scientific knowledge (basically pattern recognition) is blended into ritual practices designed to elevate the senses of “freedom) until a certain “knowledge/freedome-block builder” sense clicks in.

I imagine it was felt as a mix of revelation and rationality.

We can imagine a certain modern academia-church where this ability is like receiving the driver’s license — but to navigate toward the edge of knowledge. Once having it, the person has mastered the ability to orient itself in a certain mess of patterns: symbols, words, sensations.

The modern versions of the Eleusian Mysteries are about to be built. One is Reason and Run.

Instead of diplomas we will receive badges. Proof that such an ability exists. People can upload them on their Linkedin profiles and brag about it on Instagram. :)

From that moment on, they can engage in explorations with an AI Sherpa. Freedome to imagine.
